8/29/06: Hey everyone! TOPHEAVY has a busy Fall line-up planned and we hope you can make it out to catch some amazing shows with some great bands in some new(and some familiar) venues. TOPHEAVY will be playing a series of shows in the Boston area in September, October, and November including Bill's Bar, Bulfinch Yacht Club, and The Skybar....and you might just being seeing us at the Lucky Dog in Worcester soon, too! The band will also be returning to NYC on 9/8...so check out the gigs page for details! TOPHEAVY will then be devoting the winter months to working on new material and getting it ready for the studio. Tentative plans to record a follow up to LoveDrunk, are being worked out for the early Spring 2007! We'll keep you posted! Look forward to seeing you at some shows! Keep rockin'! 6/2/06- TOPHEAVY is gearing up for the Middle East Upstairs show on 6/24/06. This show is gonna be HUGE and it's gonna ROCK! As this is TOPHEAVY's first Middle East show in some time, there is a good chance this show is going to sell out! Make sure you get there early so you can get in! For details check out: www.mideastclub.com 5/31/06- Thanks to all of our friends and fans and their on-line voting efforts, TOPHEAVY's song "Julie Says" was selected to be included on the Musselman Triathlon compilation CD! The CD will be distributed to over 1,000 athletes competing in this year's triathlon and will be included in the marketing for the event. TOPHEAVY has also been invited to play at the Triathlon on 7/16/06 in Geneva, NY. 5/25/06- TOPHEAVY has been selected to participate in the Boston Rockers For Life project. This is a local and national program that was created by Ground Control, a charitable organization that provides education, resources, and awareness programs to schools and youth groups in the interest of preventing Drunk Driving. TOPHEAVY was hand-picked out of over 900 local New England bands to be included in their Boston Rockers For Life compilation CD. TOPHEAVY will also be involved in the regional/national marketing campaign along with Ground Control's local marketing/promotional efforts. Proceeds from the CD which includes 20 other local bands will go to fund Ground Control's school based prevention programs. Details on the upcoming CD release party will be provided soon....and will be coordinated with additional performances to promote Ground Control's program in early July! We'll keep you posted!! For more info on the CD project, programs, and Ground Control check out www.preventdrunkdriving.org 5/11/06- TOPHEAVY has been selected for the final round of voting to compete against hundreds of other local and regional bands in an online competition to have the song "Julie Says" placed on a compilation CD that will be distributed to hundreds of atheletes competing in the Musselman Triathlon in Geneva, NY, on July 16, 2006, and the band will get a slot to play at this year's Triathlon in front of hundreds of atheletes and onlookers at the after-party! Voting starts today, May 11, 2006 at 12pm EST and TOPHEAVY asks our fans, friends, family, to vote because the 15 artists with the most votes will be included on the compilation CD! There is a maximum of 5 votes per person and each person is allowed only 1 vote per day. Please vote as many times as you can! Proceeds from the CD go to the David House charity for children with terminal illnesses and the Friends of Laurie Charleston fund. The show rocked and TOPHEAVY had a great time playing with Superlow, the Goodbyes, and Cheaterprint. The show was a real high-point made for a good send-off for TOPHEAVY, as the band plans to take a self-imposed hiatus from live performances for several months to develop a cache of new songs and to pursue radio, multi-media, and label exposure. See the gigs page for more info and details. 7/15/03- PA's Lounge show on 7/25 CANCELLED!! Due to Corey's departure, the band needs to get up to speed with new bassist Matt Boynton. Look for some HUGE shows headed your way soon!!! 7/12/03- The Skybar show on 7/11 with Almost Speechless and Aquiesce ROCKED!!! TOPHEAVY pulled out all the stops for a mighty-pop salute to the departure of long-time bassist Corey Buckingham. Corey will be sorely missed and TOPHEAVY can only thank him for all he contributed to the band. Corey is leaving the band to pursue his business and family obligations. Best of luck, Corey....you're gone but certainly not forgotten! Bassist Matt Boynton, a long-time friend and ex-Cautions and ex-My Cat Mittens member will be filling out the TOPHEAVY bottom end until further notice! Welcome Matt!! 6/19/03- Mastering is done!!!! TOPHEAVY and M-Works have created another pop-masterpiece, which has captured all the melodic fury of the mighty pop! TOPHEAVY is busy formulating cover concepts and artwork. Plans to release the as yet untitled CD are shaping up for a September time frame. Check back for more info on the new CD. 5/28/03- Mixing is done!!!! TOPHEAVY and Mr. Minehan have finished mixing all the tracks for the upcoming full-length CD! Mastering will commence at M-Works with the fabulous Colin Decker in the next two weeks, and an anticipated early September release date in the works!!! Never fear, though.... TOPHEAVY will be playing some great local venues in July (Skybar, PA's Lounge) and August (Middle East) and returning to NYC and PA for some regional shows before the big release! Check the gigs page for more details. 4/28/03- Recording is done!!!! TOPHEAVY has finished recording all the tracks for their upcoming new, full-length CD! The rough mixes are sounding great and final mixing and mastering will be completed in mid-May. In the meantime, TOPHEAVY will be playing some cool new venues in Boston (Pa's Lounge, Jacques Underground) and returning to NYC to really break the new material in live and to prepare for the upcoming CD release party date TBA. 4/10/03- TOPHEAVY has been solicited for a management and promotional contract from Lou-Do Music based out of St Augustine, FLA. Lou Do is affiliated with such national artists as Blink 182, Fleetwood Mac, Cheap Trick, and Johnny Cash to name a few, and has taken a huge interest in TOPHEAVY. TOPHEAVY is reviewing the terms with their legal representation and will be working out a favorable deal soon....keep checking back to find out the latest on this monumental event! 3/3/03- TOPHEAVY has completed their first round of studio time with Dave Minehan at Woolly Mammoth Sound. Basic tracks have been completed and the band will be finishing up vocals and the mixing on the CD in April. A tentative release date is being scheduled for late May/early June. Details are on the "gigs" page. 11/20/02- TOPHEAVY has been asked to perform at the University of Hartford's "Canstock" on Saturday, December 14, 2002 at 8pm. Canstock is a charity event to benefit the Foodshare organization of Greater Hartford which helps to feed less fortunate and homeless families in the Hartford area. It's a good cause and can really help those who need assistance during the holiday season. Come on out and show your TOPHEAVY support as well as spreading some early holiday cheer and help. That's right folks, There's a cool new addition to the line of TOPHEAVY merchandise. Tees are 100% black,cotton with the TOPHEAVY logo and symbol on the front and website and "mighty pop on the back. Come get yours at a TOPHEAVY gig! 10/18/02-TOPHEAVY will be appearing on the nationally syndicated Cable Radio Network show "AM Chronicles" on Friday, October 25th to promote the band and their appearance at Babson College's ROCTOBERFEST later that night. The broadcast will be live from 9-9:30 a.m. on WSRO-1470 AM, and will be simulcast over the internet on the CRNI website cable channel 6 at: http://www.crni.net/crn6_studio.htm. A re-broadcast of the show will be played at 3 p.m. on station 650 AM. The appearance will consist of an interview with the band, playing tracks off of the Bite Size EP, and possibly some call in questions for the band. It's pretty entertaining........and just goes to show...there is no such thing as "bad press!" 9/30/02-TOPHEAVY continues to bring "the mighty pop" to our surrounding states and cities! TOPHEAVY is making their Rhode Island debut this October at the Station in W. Warwick, RI and has a return Halloween engagement in NYC after the huge success of their last Kenny's appearnace! Word just came in that TOPHEAVY stickers will be available within the next two weeks. They'll be available at gigs and will soon be for sale on our stuff page.....check it out and feel free to stick 'em anywhere you please...they are non-toxic after all!! 8/11/02-TOPHEAVY is back from their successful PA and DC tour. The band played to packed rooms in Lancaster, PA and DC, and hushed the yelps of some hecklers in Philadelphia with a mouthful of of MIGHTY POP! Philly rocks! TOPHEAVY will definitely be returning to PA and DC this fall...keep an eye out! Thanks to all of our PA and DC fans, both new and old! We had a blast! 7/31/02-TOPHEAVY is making their PA debut in the City of Brotherly Love (that's Philadelphia folks!) at the Pontiac Grill on historic South Street. The venue has seen the likes of many big times acts such as Oasis, The Ocean Blue, and many others. The band will then follow the show with a return to Chris' home town, the heart of Amish country, Lancaster PA! The band will play to a crowd of fans and friends at the Chameleon Club, known for breaking the rock giants, LIVE and site of LIVE's video "Pain Lies On The Riverside." Finally comes a return to Mr. Smith's in DC where TOPHEAVY plans to kick some rock into the Bush Administration! For dates and times see the gigs section. 7/29/02-TOPHEAVY will be playing as part of a major label showcase at the Pearl Street Nightclub in Northampton, MA this October along with Almost Speechless and another as-yet-un-named band. Tix for the show will be on sale at a later date........keep your eyes peeled for updates....all support is appreciated. 7/27/02-TOPHEAVY played a rousing gig at the Linwood with friends Almost Speechless and Joy Kicks Darkness.......thanks to all who came. In sad news, the band recorded a live CD of the show but the CD was stolen after being set down momentarily on the bar. The band is flattered that someone liked the show so much that they took the CD, but we'd love to have it returned so we can make a few copies for ourselves....if you have any info on the missing CD drop us a line at info@topheavyrock.com, we'd appreciate it. 6/20/02-TOPHEAVY has been asked to submit CD's and promo materials to the Mid-Atlantic NACA (National Association for Campus Activities)Conference in order to broaden their performance base to colleges in the Mid-Atlantic region. This could mean big exposure and new fans in the college community...wish us luck!
